Doctors told her that she had an 87% chance of getting breast or ovarian cancer since it runs in her family. Her mother had died of breast cancer at 56 years which made her fear ever getting the disease. It's a smart decision to make if she would ever actually do it and once she does her chances will decrease down to 5%.
As scary as going to the OB/GYN it is very important for women to get checked and do self breast exams every now and then. Cancer is such a sneaky illness just like any other diseases out here. Also remember that men can get breast cancer, too. They might not get it as often as women, but the key word is can. It is very possible to go a long time without knowin you have cancer because you can have no sypmtoms. Always get checked.
